The Language Group Sponsors Deaf Athletes Competing at The 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo

Strong Serves, Stronger Champions

At The Language Group, inclusion and accessibility are at the heart of everything we do. Language is more than words—it’s how people connect, belong, and thrive. That’s why we’re proud to support the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, not just through our professional interpreting and translation services, but by empowering individuals who break barriers in every field—including sports.

This year, The Language Group is honored to sponsor two remarkable athletes—Chelsie Brown and Alfredo Luis Gálvez—as they represent Team USA at the 2025 Deaflympics, a global event celebrating the talent, resilience, and achievements of Deaf and Hard of Hearing athletes from around the world.

Join us in cheering on Chelsie Brown and Alfredo Luis Gálvez as they compete on the world stage at the Deaflympics from November 15-26. Follow us on LinkedIn to see photos of their journey!

Chelsie Brown

Chelsie Brown, 17, of Sterling, Kansas, was born hard of hearing and wears hearing aids. She discovered her passion for tennis in middle school and quickly excelled, winning the 2024 Kansas Class 3-2-1A Singles State Championship with a perfect 36-0 record.

“Representing my country means respect, honor, and pride in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community,” Brown said. “I want young athletes to believe in themselves—anything is possible.”

Alfredo Luis Gálvez

Alfredo Luis Gálvez, originally from Lima, Peru and now living in Norfolk, Virginia, is a profoundly Deaf athlete who began playing tennis at 15. He went on to compete at the ATP level and earned a Division I scholarship at Norfolk State University.

“Representing Team USA is one of the greatest honors of my life,” Gálvez said. “The Deaflympics shows the world that our abilities speak louder than our limitations.”
